The 2021 anime raced through the whole plot in 13 episodes and cut a large share of the manga's quiet, character-building chapters. The 2023 sequel "The Missing Pieces" restored many of them, but reading the manga from chapter 1 is still the only way to get the complete, properly-paced story.
The manga is complete at 122 chapters (16 volumes), and between the 2021 anime and "The Missing Pieces" most of it has been adapted — but scattered and out of order. Because the original series skipped so many small moments, the best "continuation" is simply to read the manga from the beginning for the full experience.
